Modern map of Whitechapel

Many books and discussions will provide an excellent written or verbal account of the areas associated with the Canonical Victims. However, maps play a very important part in studying the Whitechapel Murders, because they help give a good visual grasp of where locations are in relation to each other, as well as to actually see where some places are which have typically only been given as a street address.

Various maps have been used to present the numerous locations, depending on the detail required: 1873, 1887, 1888, 1893, 1894, and 1987. The year of map will be typically displayed in the bottom left-hand corner. (The locations have been verified via historical research in London by The Viper.)

The locations marked on the maps are those which have a known and typically a direct relation to the murders. Not every location, which may be of interest to some, is marked.

For each map presented, North will always be at the "top" of the map, unless otherwise indicated.

1873, 1893, and 1894 map extracts are due to the courtesy of The Viper.

Some maps are large and might take a while to fully come up - Thanks for your patience.
